Audiovisual Archives in the 21st Century – Conference, 13-14 October 2010

The conference is organised by the Belgian Presidency of the Council of the European Union in the context of the International Film Festival of Ghent. It takes place in the framework of further development of the EU’s Digital Agenda. Based on a broad vision on audiovisual heritage the conference seeks to be complementary to the Council conclusions regarding European film heritage and the challenges of the digital era, which will be published during the Belgian EU Presidency. Various aspects of the digitization of film and audiovisual heritage will be discussed including the challenges and good practice regarding funding, business models, access, copyright and the interoperability of collections. Claudia Dillmann, President of the Association des Cinémathèques Européennes (ACE), will speak about the impact of digitisation for film heritage institutions
