Popis:The headlines of the national newspapers announce that Romania has declared war on Austria-Hungary (on August 27, 1916). General mobilization of the Romanian army. On a country road, the troops march towards the front, while the peasants watch them. Kind Ferdinand, the supreme commander of the Romanian army, visist the troops one day before a major offensive. The Romanian soldiers are struggling to resist agains the more numerous and better equipped German army led by General Mackensen. The heads of the Romanian army watch closely the events on the battle field. Between two attacks, the soldiers improvise a piano concert. Charles the Second, the royal heir, follows his father, King Fedinand, on the front. Older footage with Ferdinand's uncle, King Charles the First (who died on October 10, 1914), taking a walk together with his wife, Queen Elisabeth, in the park of Sinaia. Wounded soldiers are taken care of in aid stations. Queen Marie, Ferdinand's wife, visits the injured soldiers and encourages them. As the front line approaches, peasants leaves their homes, taking with them only waht they can carry. In line with its peace and order mission, the Romanian army enters Budapest, to protect Big Romania.
