Description: This documentary shows the air raid undertaken by Gabriele D’Annunzio over Vienna on August 9th, 1918, to drop propaganda leaflets over the enemies. The documentary is made of real images taken from the airplanes during the flight and after the landing, still images (photographs of the pilots and the texts of the leaflets), and a kind of “fiction” representing the people in Vienna, women and children picking up the leaflets and a homeless, upset by the content of the leaflets. These scenes represent the reverse shot expressing the troubled feeling of the enemies, who are supposed to be very confused in front of the feat. This is the peculiarity of this copy of the film, which is also held by the Cineteca Italiana in Milan, but in a black and white version, without the fictional part and with a slightly different editing. About the date, this film should have been made in the first ‘20s, after the opening of the Italian branch of the First National.
