  • Description: The fishing vessel S.S. Langevaag leaves for the fishing grounds, where the nets are set and later hauled aboard again with a catch of 250 000 herring. This exhausting work is done entirely by hand. The herring is shaken out of the nets and brought ashore in baskets known as "sjepper". On land, the catch is salted and packed in barrels, and some of it is put on ice. The footage comes to a close with a panorama shot of Aalesund.
