Description:The black-and-white footage by Ernst Hirsch documents the blasting of the last remaining arch girder of the Carola Bridge on March 7, 1952. Shortly before the end of the war, on May 7, 1945, it had been destroyed by units of the Waffen-SS. Reconstruction in the old form was not planned, but the bridge was rebuilt from 1967 to 1971.
