  • Leírás: The battles of the dockers during the winter and early spring of 1950, filmed in Rouen, Saint-Nazaire, La Pallice (La Rochelle), Marseille and Bordeaux. After evoking the precariousness, the difficulty and the danger of their profession, this militant film exalts the heroism and the sacrifices of the longshoremen mobilized against the American policy and the Marshall Plan, the German rearmament and the Indochina war... Shot in the main French ports (with the notable exception of Le Havre), "Vivent les dockers" (Long Live the Dockers) combines documentary images (unloading the coffins of French soldiers killed in Indochina, the presence of the C.R.S.) and recreated scenes (industrial accidents and demonstrations, the harangue of an Algerian worker and fraternization). It is part of the aesthetic-ideological battle of the Communist party to create, mainly during the first half of 1950, a heroic image of the dockers. Banned by the censors. Grand prize for documentary at the Karlovy-Vary festival in 1951. Collective, under the direction of Robert Ménégoz.
