Europeana launches redesign

Europeana.eu, Europe’s digital library, museum and archive, launched a redesign with new functionality. The new interface has more visual appeal and has been adapted for iPads and Android touchscreens, bringing all the benefits of touch to Europe’s online treasury.

International Symposium "Importing Asta Nielsen: Cinema-Going and the Making of the Star System in the Early 1910s"

Her name is inextricably connected with the advent of the long feature film and the introduction of the star system: Asta Nielsen. From 27 to 29 September, international film historians and researchers will discuss the various modes of distribution, exhibition, appropriation, and reception of the first female star to receive international attention. The conference is hosted by the Deutsches Filminstitut in Frankfurt/Germany and curated by Martin Loiperdinger (University of Trier).
